Our five Alamo Colleges offer online courses in two learning modes:

Asynchronous online learning: Students access their courses each week at any time.

Synchronous online learning: Students log in and participate in class at a specified time each week via Zoom or video conference.

Alamo Colleges offers online courses in an 8- or 16-week format. The assignments, discussions, and exams take place in an online environment. To learn more, watch Online Environment.

Also, the Alamo Colleges offer various academic and student support services to assist its online students.

Depending on if you are a first-time-in-college student, a transfer student, or a returning student, the steps to enrollment vary slightly. For step-by-step instructions for your enrollment type, visit online students and apply today!

Yes, whether you take one course or a full load, you still need to apply. Please note if you are coming in from another institution you are considered a transfer student.

All students under the age of 22 must submit proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination.

Online students taking classes on campus at any of the Alamo Colleges must provide proof of immunization.

Students taking classes 100% online can request an exemption by submitting the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Waiver—Enrollment in Online Course Only.

Typically yes. As you register for your first semester, you will be assigned a Certified Academic Advisor. Together you will develop a degree plan for a transfer or career pathway. Alamo Colleges District wants to ensure your courses and degree apply to your goal.

If you are still in the application phase, contact an AlamoONLINE Enrollment Coach or the Admissions and Records office at the College you selected on your application. They will assist you with admission.

Also, check your email. Once the application was submitted you should have received a confirmation email with a link to AlamoENROLL for your enrollment checklist. Also, if there were errors with the application, you would have received an email.

For the Alamo Colleges E-rate for out-of-district and out-of-state U.S. residents taking courses entirely online, read ACD increases E-rate value for out-of-district and out-of-state learners.

Residents in Bexar County are in-district students, residents in Texas but outside of Bexar County are out-of-district students, and residents outside of Texas are Non-Resident students.

Unlike earning a college degree, certificate, or other college credentials over months or years, micro-credentials are extremely specific. They are designed to focus on a single skill or cluster of skills so a learner can study, practice, and improve upon that skill quickly. This non-college-credit training takes 10 hours or less to complete.
